Israel is the President of Engine Ventures. He works with many of the boards of Engine Portfolio companies having served on the private and public company boards of Moderna, Fortive, Aura Biosciences, and FM Global. Israel has been intimately involved with The Engine since leading its launch in 2016, serving as its Founding Chairman through 2020, all while holding the position of Executive Vice President and Treasurer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During his tenure at MIT, Israel served as a trustee of the MIT Corporation and a member of its executive committee and endowment board for more than a decade. Previously, he held management and engineering roles at Hewlett-Packard and Nissan Automotive. Israel holds a master’s degree from MIT Sloan and a six-year degree in industrial and mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Israel is an active member of the governance of the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard.
