Michael is a General Partner at Engine Ventures. Michael focuses on accelerating the deployment of breakthrough technologies to address global challenges, particularly climate change. He currently serves on the boards of Addis Energy, AtmosZero, Blue Energy, Genomines, Mantel, Osmoses, Pascal, Sora Fuel, and VEIR, and is a board observer for Terragia and Copernic Catalysts.
Michael's career spans the intersection of finance, research and entrepreneurship. Previously, he led market and business development efforts to launch Ambri, a grid-scale energy storage startup. Prior to joining Engine Ventures, he was the Executive Director of the MIT Roosevelt Project, an interdisciplinary project on energy transition pathways to accelerate progress toward a clean energy economy. His research on energy economics and innovation policy has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Michael holds an MS and PhD from MIT, where he trained first in systems engineering and then economics, and he holds a BA from Williams College.
